Short answer: Melbourne’s electrician click estimate is A$26.99 with 16,460 monthly searches in the October 2026 city data (source credit below). There is no verified Melbourne electrical CPL range in the checked sources; LocaliQ’s US$93.69 per lead is a US campaign median from April 2024–March 2025, not an Australian target. The useful local decision is which work to buy: urgent faults, switchboards, EV charging or the electrical component of heating and cooling installations.

Melbourne is the lowest-priced of these five city rows, but that does not make a broad electrical campaign economical. A rental safety enquiry, a retail light-fitting shopper and a homeowner needing an urgent fault repaired have very different commercial intent. The search-volume column is a dataset total, not a list of people ready to hire.
For measured campaign context, LocaliQ’s US report, updated 15 July 2026 gives electricians US$12.18 per click, US$93.69 per lead and a 9.08% conversion rate for April 2024–March 2025. Its medians come from US Search advertising across Google and Microsoft, not Melbourne-only Google accounts. Our national electrical cost guide explains the different datasets; a cheap campaign average cannot be compared directly with a city keyword estimate.
Which postcode clusters suit a Melbourne electrical account?
Choose one operating side of the city before adding every suburb. The clusters below are proposed service boundaries, not measured lead hotspots. A small team might start within roughly 10–20 km of its workshop, then narrow by drive time, parking and appointment commitments.
| Operating zone | Example suburbs and postcodes | Campaign emphasis to test |
|---|---|---|
| Inner north | Brunswick 3056, Coburg 3058, Preston 3072 | Fault finding and switchboard enquiries with clear booking windows. |
| Eastern corridor | Box Hill 3128, Blackburn 3130, Mitcham 3132 | Quoted upgrades and planned installation work. |
| South-east | Oakleigh 3166, Clayton 3168, Springvale 3171 | Separate household repairs from commercial enquiries. |
| Western base | Footscray 3011, Sunshine 3020, Werribee 3030 | Choose a smaller local subset, not one emergency promise across the entire corridor. |
Split inner-city apartment access from outer-suburban house visits if the intake process differs. Ask for property type and parking or access restrictions on the quote form. Exclude unserved suburbs and use location presence, while checking actual enquiry addresses because Google’s geolocation is not exact.
How should winter heating and summer AC shape an electrician’s campaigns?
BOM’s 1981–2010 Melbourne climate statistics, represented by Melbourne Airport, put July’s mean minimum at 5.5°C and February’s mean maximum at 26.5°C (Bureau of Meteorology city climate tables). That supports a seasonal planning conversation, not a claimed uplift in electrical leads or a forecast of auction prices.
Before winter, check whether the business actually handles electrical faults associated with heaters, dedicated circuits and switchboard capacity. Route heating-appliance service requests elsewhere if they are outside the team’s scope. Do not turn a general electrical ad into a gas-heater repair promise.
Before summer, distinguish air-conditioning electrical supply work from refrigerant-system installation and servicing. If the business offers only electrical connections, say so and exclude general AC service searches. If it delivers the complete installation lawfully, give that offer its own page and appointment workflow. EV-charger quotes and renovation rewires should retain separate budgets so a heat-related spike does not consume the entire pipeline.
How can the account separate emergencies from profitable upgrades?
- Use an urgent-fault campaign only during genuinely staffed response hours. Copy should explain the service area without inventing an arrival guarantee.
- Give switchboard upgrades an enquiry form that asks for the existing board and property type, without asking customers to open unsafe equipment.
- For EV charging, ask about the charger, parking location and property ownership or approval, not just a phone number. Do not advertise charger models the contractor cannot install.
- Remove training, salary, apprenticeships, wholesale components and DIY wiring searches where they appear. Do not blanket-exclude every installation term just because it is not an emergency.
Judge each work stream on attended appointments, accepted quotes and gross profit rather than one blended phone-call count. Keep rental-agent jobs separate if their approval cycle differs. Never use fabricated customer reviews or stock photos labelled as completed Melbourne projects.
What does Energy Safe Victoria require before you advertise?
An A Grade electrician’s licence allows unsupervised electrical installation work as an employee, but does not by itself allow contracting for profit or reward. The contracting business needs the appropriate Registered Electrical Contractor status. Energy Safe Victoria’s REC responsibilities also require the REC registration number on promotional materials, including advertisements, and current insurance.
Check the entity name, current registration and service claims before campaigns go live; put the correct REC number into the advertising and landing page. A statement that someone is A Grade is not a substitute for the contracting registration. These official pages were checked on 7 November 2026; the A Grade page was reviewed 30 June 2025 and REC responsibilities 17 December 2025.
Which Google ad product can Melbourne electricians actually use?
Search ads are the starting point here. Local Services Ads are not available in Australia or New Zealand. Google’s LSA help country list does not include either country, and an AU/NZ help request opening US content is not proof of local availability. The LSA versus Search comparison distinguishes pay-per-lead listings from ordinary click-based campaigns.

Frequently asked questions
What click price should a Melbourne electrician use as a reference?
The published October 2026 Melbourne row is A$26.99 per click with 16,460 monthly searches across the source’s electrician keyword set. It is an estimate to investigate in the account, not a guaranteed auction price.
Can I budget from a published Melbourne electrical CPL?
No verified Melbourne-specific electrical CPL range was found. LocaliQ reports a US$93.69 US median for April 2024–March 2025, but importing it as an Australian lead target would hide differences in market, currency and campaign mix.
Is an A Grade licence enough to advertise my contracting business?
Not on its own. Energy Safe Victoria distinguishes the individual A Grade licence from Registered Electrical Contractor status. The business offering electrical contracting must have the appropriate registration and show its REC number on promotional materials.
Should I include all Melbourne postcodes in one emergency campaign?
Only if the business can actually cover them at its advertised service level. Otherwise start on the side of Melbourne where the crew is based, use a smaller postcode cluster and review travel time before widening coverage.
Can electrical ads promise complete air-conditioning installation?
Only when the business can lawfully deliver every service promised. An electrician offering supply connections should not imply that refrigerant installation or general AC servicing is included. Match the landing page and keyword exclusions to the actual scope.
Are Local Services Ads offered for electricians in Melbourne?
No. As checked on 7 November 2026, Google Local Services Ads are unavailable in Australia and New Zealand. A US help page reached through a regional redirect is not an Australian product launch.
How should I measure EV-charger and switchboard enquiries?
Track them as separate job types through qualified enquiry, attended assessment, accepted quote and completed work. A long quote cycle should not be judged against the same immediate booking expectations as a staffed urgent-fault campaign.
