Short answer: Across Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio, published “ac repair” estimates run from US$41.23 to US$77.53 per click; “hvac repair” runs from US$44.62 to US$75.85 (September 2025–August 2026 DMA data, source credit below). A separate October 2026 city-keyword dataset spans US$28.90–US$49.73 for these four cities, so neither series should be treated as a statewide campaign average. No verified Texas metro CPL range was found: use LocaliQ’s US$127.74 AC and US$129.02 heating US medians only as national context while building your own qualified-lead record.

The keyword matters as much as the metro. In Houston, the “hvac repair” estimate exceeds “ac repair”; in Dallas–Fort Worth the order reverses. Austin’s “near me” AC term is below its base term, so do not apply a universal surcharge for those words. These are twelve-month keyword estimates, not a live heatwave auction or a lead invoice.
| Published city label | HVAC click estimate | Monthly searches |
|---|---|---|
| Houston | US$28.90 | 27,235 |
| Dallas | US$34.31 | 37,582 |
| Austin | US$44.51 | 11,979 |
| San Antonio | US$49.73 | 10,870 |

Dallas is the city label in the October series; it must not be silently renamed Dallas–Fort Worth. Do not average the two tables together. The national HVAC cost guide uses the same published DMA figures and explains the distinction between estimated head-term costs and blended paid campaigns.
How should service territories work across these four metros?
Texas is not one practical service radius. Separate cities by real crews, dispatch numbers and schedules; never claim a local office where none exists. The following are illustrative starting territories, not ZIP-level cost evidence. A 15–25 mile core around each staffed base is a planning test, not a requirement or a forecast.
| Metro | Example cell | Operational guardrail |
|---|---|---|
| Houston | Katy 77449/77450 or Sugar Land 77478/77479 | Separate west-side coverage from a distant east-side crew. |
| Dallas–Fort Worth | Plano 75023/75024 or Arlington 76010/76013 | DFW needs multiple dispatch cells if both sides are advertised. |
| Austin | North Austin 78758 and Round Rock 78664 | Do not promise the same emergency travel time to the southern fringe. |
| San Antonio | North-side 78232/78247 or west-side 78245/78251 | Set response copy by the crew’s available route, not a metro-wide radius. |
Presence-based targeting reduces irrelevant geographic interest, but does not guarantee the caller is inside your catchment. Confirm the service address at intake, monitor unserved-area calls and exclude persistent leakage. Replacement appointments can tolerate different travel economics from a same-day no-cooling repair.
How should summer heat and winter freezes change HVAC bidding?
The National Weather Service Dallas/Fort Worth climate narrative describes hot summers, July and August days commonly in the 90s and sometimes at or above 100°F, plus winter cold fronts and freezes. That is DFW climate evidence, not a statewide lead-growth percentage. Houston, Austin and San Antonio need their own dispatch and weather checks rather than one automated Texas-wide budget increase.
- Before sustained summer heat: separate no-cooling repairs from replacement estimates and maintenance. Link emergency ads to an answered intake line and a current appointment schedule.
- During a freeze: activate heating and heat-pump fault coverage only where technicians can travel safely and provide that work. Do not promise an instant fix during access or power disruptions.
- During milder weather: assess tune-ups and planned replacements on margin and repeat business, not on whether their clicks match an emergency campaign.
Do not raise bids simply because the forecast is hot. First inspect unanswered calls, available appointments and the mix of repair versus replacement work. Paying more for calls that cannot be served makes a busy week look successful in the ad dashboard while wasting homeowner time.
What is a defensible Texas HVAC lead budget?
| LocaliQ category | CPC, US$ | CPL, US$ | Conversion rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air conditioning installation & repair | US$9.68 | US$127.74 | 6.56% |
| Heating & furnaces | US$9.30 | US$129.02 | 7.48% |
Source: LocaliQ home-services Search benchmarks, 3,211 US campaigns overall across Google and Microsoft. Medians for separate metrics do not have to divide into one another, so calculating CPC ÷ conversion rate will not necessarily reproduce the published median CPL.
Build the operating budget from qualified service enquiries and your own booking rate. Distinguish a repair completed today from a replacement quote that closes later; exclude parts shoppers, recruiting calls and duplicate contacts. Until you have local results, the national CPL is a comparison point, not a Texas forecast, and the Keyword Planner table is not a ceiling on possible auction prices.
What TDLR checks belong in a Texas HVAC ad launch?
The TDLR contractor application guidance distinguishes Class A, which permits any size unit, from Class B, limited to cooling systems of 25 tons and under and heating systems of 1.5 million BTUs/hour and under. Endorsements also define the permitted work. Verify the business affiliation and licence scope before promoting commercial jobs or specialist equipment.
TDLR’s official sanctions schedule identifies failure to include a required licence number in an advertisement under rule 75.71(h) as an advertising violation. Put the correct affiliated contractor licence number in the advertising and landing page, keep claims within scope and obtain a compliance review if an ad format creates a constraint. PPC Fitter is the advertising manager, not the licensed HVAC contractor.
Should Texas HVAC companies test Local Services Ads as well?
Yes, subject to local eligibility and screening. Google lists HVAC among US Local Services Ads categories; LSAs charge for eligible leads rather than website clicks. Availability in the US does not establish approval for every business, job type or ZIP. Australia and New Zealand do not have LSAs as checked on 7 November 2026.
Keep LSA and Search budgets and lead-quality reporting distinct, then deduplicate callers across channels. The LSA vs Search guide covers the buying models. For management, see Google Ads for HVAC companies, pricing and the founder’s background. PPC Fitter serves the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland; clients’ Google Ads accounts are set up in the client’s own name.
Frequently asked questions
What are published AC repair click prices in Texas metros?
The September 2025–August 2026 DMA estimates are US$41.23 in Houston, US$52.64 in Dallas–Fort Worth, US$61.05 in Austin and US$77.53 in San Antonio for the exact keyword “ac repair”. They are not a statewide average.
Why is the Dallas HVAC city figure lower than the DFW repair keyword?
The October 2026 Dallas figure uses a different city-keyword set and reporting period from the Dallas–Fort Worth DMA repair-keyword study. Neither should be relabelled as the other, and their difference alone is not evidence that prices fell.
Is US$127.74 a Texas HVAC lead guarantee?
No. US$127.74 is LocaliQ’s US air-conditioning campaign median CPL for April 2024–March 2025. No verified Texas metro CPL range was found in the checked sources, so your own qualified enquiries and bookings must establish a local target.
Can one campaign cover Houston, DFW, Austin and San Antonio?
Only a business with genuine operating coverage should advertise all four. Separate metro budgets and dispatch schedules; a local crew should start in a practical service cell instead of buying statewide emergency calls.
What should happen to ads during a Texas winter freeze?
Check safe travel, technician availability and the heating work the business can provide before increasing coverage. Separate heating and heat-pump fault enquiries from cooling campaigns and remove response promises the dispatch team cannot meet.
Does the Texas HVAC contractor licence number need to appear in ads?
TDLR’s sanctions schedule cites failure to include a required licence number in advertising under rule 75.71(h). Use the correct affiliated contractor number and ensure the promoted work fits the licence class and endorsement.
Are HVAC Local Services Ads available in Texas?
They are available in the US for eligible HVAC businesses, subject to service-area availability and Google’s screening. Check the actual business and ZIP eligibility, then compare qualified leads separately from Search ads. LSAs are not available in Australia or New Zealand.
